There are many people who enter the realm of the music industry with UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS, especially aspiring artist, believing that once they make a record/CD that they are going to be instantaneously Mega SuperStars and strike it rich.  Nothing could be further from the truth, the truth is that you get what you work for!  Yes, the music business is a business of work and nothing in this business is for free, everything you get/gain within the music industry, you must earn, work for it and/or pay for it.  There is no free ticket, free ride or free bees in this business.  The music industry has mushroomed into a Multi-Billionaire Dollar enterprise and is on the verge of becoming a Multi-Trillion Dollar business worldwide.  There is plenty of opportunity in this business of music for those who are willing to work diligently and relentlessly until they succeed at their goal of promulgating music and getting paid for it.  So, if you are not willing to commit yourself to this full time and make all the sacrifices that are necessary within this business of music, then you are in the wrong business and need to forget about this and do something else.  Further, if you don't have an undying love and a built-in resilient system for this business of music, then you best to leave this business alone, because you are going to have to endure a lot of hardships before you even realize your first dollar.  There is no sense in wasting your time if this business of music is not really in your blood, because along the road, you are guaranteed to get your feelings hurt and your ego shattered.

Too many unknown and non-established Artist have the UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS that they are going to get an advance of $50, 000.00/xx once they sign up with an Independent Record Label.  Again, nothing could be further from the truth, many Independent Record Labels are struggling hard just to maintain themselves within the music industry.  This business of music is a costly and expensive venture, too many aspiring/apprentence Artist fail to appreciate the investments that go into their career by Independent Record Labels/Companies to realize their artistic achievements.  What the up and coming Artist needs to acknowledge is that in today's Music Industry, the Major Record Labels/Companies are not going to take the risk on an unknown and/or unaccomplished Artist; what the Major Record Labels/Companies do as a standard practice is let the Independent Record Labels/Companies endure the risks of expenses on the unknown/non-established/unaccomplished Artist, and when this particular Artist/s begins to show some promise, then the Major Record Label/Company negotiate a deal with the Independent Record Label/Company for that particular Artist.  This is the way the music business operates today, it is very rare, like one in a million chance, that a Major Record Label/Company is going to take the risk of expenses on an unknown/non-established/unaccomplished Artist.

American Idol is a venue that offers people an opportunity to be recognized by Major Record Labels/Companies, providing you are willing to subject yourself to such humiliation.  There is another venue that folks can explore for exposure in hopes of being recognized by a Major Record Label/Company, so long as they can deal with the possible rejection, and that is Amateur Night At The Apollo.  Again, aspiring Artists can take the chane and make a CD on their own account, then upload it to digital outlets like Myspace.  This is what those who have no faith in Independent Record Labels/Companies can do, if they don't want to sign up with an Independent Record Label/Company, but once you sign up with any Record Label/Company, Independent or Major, you are legally bonded to that contract so long as it is pursuant to the statutes of applicable laws of state and/or the country.
